2016-06-15 - Arrival in the Rain

Temira's forecast was pretty bleak.  Light winds everywhere (that means not sailable - even with foils) and rain in the afternoon.  Yuk.

Ross, Al and I went for a SUP paddle from the Event Site to Wells Island.  It was a cool day, but we were working hard on the way West, working against what wind there was.    The way back was a breeze (literally), but also wet - as it had started to rain.

After we dried off, we went to an organic sandwich shop for lunch.  Wow was it good!  I had a Turkey Club sandwich - it was great - we will have to go back again.  Not sure what it was called.

In the afternoon, the guys started to arrive.  It didn't take long before the Hood River economy.  I actually missed the event, but I hear that it was exciting with new boards being unboxed, drool all over the floor, and even some drama when one of the new boards that Gerry had ordered had been damaged in transit.  (Yes I said ONE of the new boards that Gerry had ordered).

Gerry with Board number two!
Kent says that it is too bad that we will never see the bright orange on the bottom of Blaine's board, except when it is sitting on the beach......

I really don't have any idea how much money was spent, but it must have been a substantial boost to the economy.

We all met for supper at 6th Street.  They were also happy to see us back - even if we are a bit noisy.

Ross, Blaine, Brad, Gerry, Kent, Rene, Harold, Ted and Al
Jim and Cam arrived late.  I was already in bed, but I understand that a few beverages were enjoyed by everyone until the wee hours of the morning.
